Mandalay kat
History
The Mandalay breed is a little known breed that originated in New Zealand some time in the 1980s. Two New Zealand breeders are credited with its creation which involved matings between Burmese cats and non - pedigree domestic cats. The matings produced promising kittens who kept the Burmese look in terms of eyes, musculature and shape but the colours on the Mandalay appear darker, eg the Seal (brown) of the Burmese becomes Black. The Mandalay is a recognised breed by the New Zealand Cat Fanciers.
Behaviour
The Mandalay shares the same temperament as the Burmese. They are a very friendly, sweet natured cat who thrive off attention. They can be very vocal much like their Burmese relatives. Mandalay cats can be attention seeking and will become lonely if left by themselves for too long. This is a great pet for a family as they get along brilliantly with children and are very tolerant. These cats are full of character and life with them will never be dull.
